Water For Elephants
Water For Elephants is a movie about a young mans journey after both his parents die in a car crash, he quits his veterinary studies and joins The Greatest show on Earth, or is it just a second rate circus?
Robert Pattinson plays Jacob, who finds himself in a circus thats struggling with debt in the American Depression era. He jumps onto a train and befriended by an elderly man called Camel (Jim Norton). The ring master is August played by Christoph Waltz, he his a ruthless man who will destroy anything that gets in his way. Reese Witherspoon plays his wife, the star attraction Marlena.
The film starts in a similar fashion to Titanic then it transforms into a spectacular show, from the expected circus acts to the amazing costumes and set designs. Reese Witherspoon outfits are great, just like her performance which was outstanding. She trained as a gymnast previously which paid off in this film as she carried out her own stunts.
The real star of the show is Rosie the Elephant, real name Tai. Tai was truly amazing, I’m sure I even saw her smile. She really did steal the movie, especially towards the end of the movie. But my lips are sealed!
It’s a nice love story but in parts rough and gruesome for a 12A. Robert Pattinson was a bit of a disappointment, think we needed to see him smile a bit more, sometimes he came across a bit wooden.
Overall an entertaining movie worth going to see.
This is a FAB rated movie.
